Multi-Topic Survey

The Multi-Topic survey is an amalgamation of several short surveys on important member-nominated topics. The first round – distributed in 2010 – covered the topic areas of ADHD, Obesity, Learning problems, Congenital hearing loss and Melatonin Use. Submissions for the 2011 round closed on Thursday 30th June. In the 2011 round, we will select up to 6 topic areas with each allocated 1-1.5 pages of the larger Multi-Topic survey. We will send the questionnaire to all APRN members in the coming months. This helps streamline your workload and advance planning for several new research projects simultaneously.

Endorsement of new survey topics will be based in the first instance, on a project’s relevance to the top 5 research priorities generated by the 2007 Delphi process, and a topic’s feasibility for further study by members of the APRN, as determined by the 2008 Children Attending Paediatricians Study (CAPS). Research proposals which do not fall into these broad priority areas will also be considered if they are demonstrably compatible with the Network’s aims and fit within APRN criteria.

A $2,000 fee applies to each topic selected to help the APRN operations team cover Ethics approval, survey layout, data entry and cleaning, coding and provision of data in a form suitable for analysis to the research team for that topic. Included in this cost is an organisational levy of 1.5% for the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute which administers the APRN’s funding. The Investigator(s) is then responsible for the analysis and reporting of the data, subject to a Memorandum of Understanding agreed upon by the research team and the APRN, which will be formalised after APRN endorsement of the study.
